On the plates, purple irises on long delicate stems span rim to rim, next to shadowy accent lines in lavender and blue tones. The pristine white, green-rimmed pieces bring a sense of serenity to everyday living. Included in this 16-piece set are four place settings, each consisting of a 10-1/4-inch dinner plate, 7-1/4-inch salad plate, 18-ounce cereal bowl, and 16-ounce cooler made of real glass decorated with the same iris design. Only the bowl is unadorned.

Like all Corelle dinnerware, Shadow Iris is made of laminated layers of glass that produce incredible strength while being very lightweight, thin, and stackable. You'll never have to worry about Corelle designs wearing or scratching off. This is an unusual and lovely place setting. The Naturewood design takes a soft, natural color palette, then adorns it with sketches of leaves and potted herbs such as lavender, basil, lemon verbena, and sweet bay (yes, they're labeled), as well as a birdhouse and watering can here and there. There's also a thin stripe of green with purple and mauve accents around the center of the plates and bowls. The 16-piece set provides service for four, consisting of 11-inch dinner plates, 8-inch salad plates, 7-1/4-inch salad bowls, and 10-ounce mugs with green interiors. As with all Pfaltzgraff dishes, single replacement pieces are available for broken items. The stoneware is microwave-, oven-, freezer-, and dishwasher-safe. Three-year warranty. --Doree Armstrong
