Product Description

Emblazoned with a sweet butterfly and wildflower motif, this summery dinnerware pattern is versatile enough to serve everyday meals or stand in for special occasion dining. Perfect for an average family, this set packs six 10-3/4-inch dinner plates, six 9-inch salad plates, and six 12-ounce mugs. Made of fine china, the dinnerware has a beautiful reflective quality to its ivory base color yet is surprisingly durable enough to go from the freezer to the oven to the table without damaging and is also safe for the microwave and dishwasher.

Based on designs from Lenox artist Louise de Luyer, Butterfly Meadow's dinnerware set mixes and matches a variety of meadow scenes, each featuring a species of butterfly with a different bloom. Among the pictured butterfly varieties, there are colorful Swallowtails, Monarchs, Eastern-Tailed Blues, Orange Sulphers, and even a dragonfly here and there. Avid gardeners will also be able to spot favorite flowers, which range from morning glories to lilacs to tiger lilies. Each scene is a bit different from the next, adding to the charm of this country-style dinnerware. Graceful scalloped and ridged edges on plates and mugs lend an additional feeling of innocence to this pattern. These are absolutely beautiful dishes and I love them. The patterns are so delicate, yet the plates are very durable. I really liked the variety of patterns on each piece. Even the back of the dishes have butterflies. I was happy to see them at such a discount here. I noticed they are also discounted the same at Bed, Bath and Beyond and a few other places, but are much cheaper than buying them direct from Lenox, even on sale. This set would make a lovely gift for anyone of any age, not just for an elderly person as suggested in the previous review. :) I highly recommend them.
Consider the shape of the mug.

I love this whimsical pattern--the reason I gave this item five stars.

I bought this set for my mother-in-law. She will not use the mugs--they sit in her china hutch. She does not like the scalloped edge around the top of the mug--she says the scallops make drinking from them more *difficult* and less *comfortable*. She also does not like the narrow bottom on the mug. She feels they are top heavy and more prone to tipping/spilling.

Before buying the whole set, purchasing one mug seperately for a home trial may be warranted if there is any chance that the scalloped drinking edge or narrow base on the mug may pose a problem for you.

We love the dishes. The pattern is great for every day use, or you can dress up the table setting with extras to give it a more decorative look. I have almost all of the pieces and love them. CAUTION: Do not put the dinner plate in the microwave if it is not loaded with food, or the plate will crack in half. Lenox was nice enough to replace mine without the 50% replacement fee. Enjoy!

They're beautiful - 6 different dinner plates, 6 different salad plates and 6 different mugs. You can mix and match colors and flowers to suit your mood or your decor.

I have had these for over a year and they hold up. No cracks or chips. And they are much nicer looking than in the photos. Everyone who sees them raves about how nice they are. Someone in a previous review compares them to Corelle. There is no comparison. These have a richer look and feel. Another reviewer has doubts about the scalloped edges on the rims and small bottoms on the cups. I don't find them to be any different to drink from or at all likely to tip over, and they are as durable as any other I have ever used, despite their delicate appearance. And the price is unbeatable. Buy a set -- you will love them!
